Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general correspondent by NBC News two year later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. Mitchell travelled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate matters including and the Iran Contra controversy.
